ULTRA-TRAIL Mt.FUJI

ARCHIVE :

A message from the Race Committee Director, Tsuyoshi Kaburaki and an explanatory report about this year’s race has been posted.

The Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji 2016 ended up being an extremely difficult race because of the terrible weather. Many of you worked long and very hard to prepare and have come from not only Japan but from all over the world with hopes and dreams of running in this race and it tears my heart apart to think about your great disappointment.
Within these difficult conditions, the staff worked very hard to ensure the safety of the racers and I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all the staff as well as to all the racers who upheld the race’s decisions to ensure the safety of the race. At the same time, I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the poor handling of some of the issues that arose during the race.
This race ended up being an extremely challenging one for us but I strongly believe that it is our duty to make sure that we learn from this experience and use it towards making the UTMF a bigger and better race in the future.
After the race, we’ve pulled together a report providing an explanation of what happened during the race, what factors were taken into consideration and why certain decisions were made. The report also outlines some of the outcomes and how we plan to move forward in the future. I am sharing this report with you in hopes that we can continue to improve communications with you in the future.
